The Lumix (Panasonic) GH-1 is a micro four thirds camera. It has a somewhat smaller body than a traditional DSLR. This is because it doesn’t have mirror and penta-prism which is how the through the lens image is seen with an optical view finder. In this review a 14-140mm lens is mounted on the camera. Because of the small body size of the camera a long lens has a tendency to dwarf the camera body. It is a very solid camera with a pivoting view screen in the rear. The electronic viewfinder slows down frame rates in low light situations. The camera also shoots video up to 1080p and has a built-in microphone. The camera uses SD memory cards instead of compact flash cards. The shake reduction is contained in the lenses and not in the camera body. The sensor of the camera is completely exposed which increases the chances of getting dust on the sensor when changing lenses. The sensor is about 83% the size of a standard DSLR cropped sensor which causes increased noise at higher ISOs.
