An ultra compact digital camera is essentially a really small camera. Because of it's tiny size ultra compacts are very convenient for keeping on you all the time. Remember you can only take a picture if you have a camera with you. These digital cameras make it really easy to just drop it in your pocket and go. Great for nights out, traveling, walks, random happenings in public (youtube) or as a permanent addition to your purse (satchel for the guys). Any loss in features is made up by the fact that you actually have your camera on you.

Snapsort's definition of a ultra compact camera is any camera who's volume is less than 100cm cubed, a typical ultra compact camera is typically less than an inch thick with dimensions of 91x52x20 mm.
