Fastest Continuous Shooting Digital Camera

The Nikon 1 J1 shoots at 60 fps - one of the fastest continuous shooting modes of all cameras.

Continuous shooting refers to how fast the camera can take images one after another in rapid succession as rated in fps (frames per second). Fast continuous shooting is great for catching action shots. Sometimes the action happens so quickly its hard catch the perfect shot, fast continuous shooting allows you to capture many closely spaced photographs so that you can pick the one which best captures the action. Many cameras allow you to shoot in continuous mode and choose the first or last n photos so that you can basically hold the trigger down until you see what you want and then let go.

(So, sorry for taking so long to getting back to you your question was lost in my many emails in my in box) In many opinion the Sony a77 is the best choice for you, it has an incredible burst rate of 12 fps (frames per second) at 24 mp (mega pixels) from what I've seen and through my research this is currently the best out there at the moment; i.e. the fastest speed at the highest quality... this is truly an exciting and extraordinary tool within the industry!

Dear Maemotastudios you seem a very smart person so in your opinion which one is at least the best from the side of megapixels and quality for rapidfire or burt mode becouse like for example jetski or kart racing its important to have rapidefire mode but like you said it will loss image quality so which one is the best out there that can have a good megapixel and a fast burstmode please advice me becouse i am not smart like you in Camera stuff :)

"Rapidfire" or "Burst Mode" as some brands call it. Captures only part of the sensor and therefore drasticly reduces your megapixels, it really depends on the camera and therefore the sensor size as to how many pixels you're losing. I personally would rather have a camera that's at it full specs than cut anything short. As an example I had a friend who was raving about the Pentax k-20d that it shoots 21 fps .. while true, that's also at 1.6 megapixels. (usually this model would be 14mp 3fps) So, continuous shooting mode would be shot using your full sensor and all of it's megapixels. I hope that this all makes sense.

Please help me understand the difference between rapidfire and continuous shooting mode. in rapidfire also it shows FPS in continuous shooting also it shows FPS. what is the difference? Thank you

Hi Tom, good point, we should fix that.. in the mean time, if you click on any of the links to explore fast fps cameras, it will show you their FPS as the first spec in the list for each camera.

It would be nice if this list shows the FPS for all the cameras listed.  Only shows it for a few.
