Having owned cameras from both Sony and Panasonic, (as well as Pentax), these comments are impartial:

I tried the A55 in the shop and have read all the reviews, and for the price, it's features and the level of innovation are excellent. However, I chose a GH2 for just two fundamental reasons: a) The flipout display on the Sony cannot face backwards when on a tripod, making composing amateur video productions or self portraits impossible. The GH2 display can be positioned almost any directions. b) Still related to video, the GH2 has earned a reputation for excellence in video. They are both great cameras, but if it was for stills only, I would have gone for the A55. I hope Panasonic or a 3rd party create a GPS equipped SD card - that would be perfect.
