Hi, I totally agree that FZ100 wins over the FZ48 which has just been released august 2011.
Why did Panasonic left out the features the FZ100 has? See:
Advantages of the Panasonic DMC-FZ100
Q: Are these Lumix bodies " tropicalized"? Meaning: water damp, temperature and zand/dust proof?

After my Canon G12 disappointment-within warranty period it failed due to what Canon stated as "zand damage" 
which is outside their warranty regulations, repair costs 381,- euro- I plan to buy the FZ100
