The unique big problme is the Hs10 dont have recharchabel baterie. You need to use Duracel our Energizer bateries

pls. exclude popularity scoring cause it has nothing to do with the features of the camera. I still think that the Fujifilm Finepix HS10 is still #1 winner

Thanks for the comments, I'm also interested in one of these, the zooms are intense. I'm not sure how well the photo quality will compare to my SLRs, probably not well but 700mm of zoom is not easy to come by even with a 1.5x crop factor. You're likely going to get chromatic aberration in any mega zoom at full telephoto but the blue & purple fringing is a reasonable compromise given the price point and flexibility of these monster super zooms.

The Nikon has distortion correction in M S P and A modes which will noticeably reduce pin cushioning and barrel distortion, this is nice, the less I have to go into Photoshop the better.

I typically don't expect good low noise performance past 400 iso with these point and shoots but I'm intrigued with the HS10's back side illumination CMOS and Fuji's typical good performance here, the p100 looks usable to 800, 1600 as long as the print isn't too big.

The HS10 has some really cool bonus modes: the motion remover - take photos in tourist areas and it removes the moving tourists and keeps the monuments, the pro low light mode which should help reduce blur when shooting without a lens and the motion panorama mode - just swing the camera and the camera takes care of a series of rapid shots and stitches them together.

It's a tough call, The p100 is a stellar deal at this price. The Fuji offers the promise of better performance and some neat tricks. Let us know how it goes!

I am about to buy one of these.
My gut tells me Nikon P100 (2 year warranty and lower price).
My problem is zoom quality. I checked out the P100 and was impressed with the zoom.
My previous camera (broke down in Costa Rica two weeks ago, after two years) was excellent (in my opinion) for zooming birds and animals.
Both of these offer more zoom but I am not certain the Fuji zoom quality is worth the extra $s.
BTW, the safari site was shot with a 4MP Nikon with a 300mm zoom attachment ... pretty archaic with today's digital cameras.
