Normal shot to shot times for full res jpegs are very quick, but writing RAW files is a bit slower, but I never use RAW anyway,as the jpegs are good enough with the HS20,I find.
For best results Fuji recommend a fast SD card,,class 6 or better, a class 10.

The difference in 8 and 11 FPS is hardly a deal breaker, and would not really make much difference in practise, and the overheating issue with the HS20 was a software glitch in the early cameras, but was resolved with a firmware update by Fuji, available as a download from their website, and should not be a problem with the later models.

The HS10 WAS slow writing multiple images, and taking flash photographs, and although otherwise a great camera, and could take some great pictures,I sold it and got a  Panasonic FZ100,which was much quicker, although I liked the "feel" of the HS10.
The Canon SX30 is also slow to use,and not as good to use as either of the Fujis,or the Panasonic, and the only real plus point is the slightly longer zoom lens
The HS20 has the EXR sensor, which captures geat images at the 8MP setting, which is plenty for great A3 prints, and is much quicker to use than the HS10,and is on a par with my FZ100.
I think the focussing  at the longer end of the zoom,in bad light,is slower than the FZ100,but is still acceptable, and, all around, the HS20 is a much improved camera.

I have read that comment as well, but it seems a little fishy to me... When you search for slow writing speed on the Fujifilm HS20, the same comment, word for word keeps coming up... Since I have not read any reviews that have mentioned it, only comments, I would wonder how accurate it is.

I've read at the others review that the Fujifilm HS20 has a slow writing speed on the memory card. Is it true?

Deciding between the Lumix DMC FZ100 and Fujifilm HS20. How significant is the difference between 8fps and 11fps for sports photos? Also I have heard about some overheating issues with the Fujifilm HS20, any truth to that?
