that would depend on your budget. and picture quality (including the on on you camera screen),  If I had additional money to buy extra lens (either wide or zoom)  I would go for a DSLR such as a Cannon Eos Ti3, other wise I' d stack with de HS20 which provide me both worlds and fare quality pictures.

I usually take an avarage of 400 pics per charge on 2300 mHa Ni-metal Hidride rechargeable Energizer batteries, (no flash) make sure to update firmware so that the low battery warning does not shows up too early. Usign the flash of course will reduce this average.  I had better battery prefomance on my old Fuji S5700.   Though the camera has may pros for it movie facilities (such as high speed and stereo recordng among many others),  I woudl not recomend it for this purpose if you intend to use the zoom.  It makes terrible job focusing and during playback you can hear a clicking and a noise produced by the barrel while sliding in and out.

One more category would be nice.... manual zoom or power zoom. Again, this is important to me as I would only consider a manual zoom camera. This category & a list of which cameras offer threaded lenses to accommodate filters would be ideal!

geopapa (1:09 PM, June 30, 2011)
One thing that is lacking is information on whether or not these cameras(all bridge cameras) have a threaded front to the lenses. I will only consider bridge cameras with this feature because I always place a skylight filter on the camera to primarily "protect" the lens from dirt, moisture & debris. This is one category that should be included.

Likewise, I currently have a Fuji 602 Zoom which I love; It's interesting to see the differences between these two camera's when considering buying one. But are the better points of the HS20 worthwile or really noticeable compared to the HS10's faster shooting to anyone other than a pro or SERIOUS amateur?

Larockn (3:38 PM, May 03, 2011)
Even if the Camera says 16MP, the true (actual) resolution most of the time is less...so 9.1MP could be the actual resolution the camera gives.

can anyone tell me,if i had to go for an entry-level dslr or the HS20EXR,what would be a good choice??

Peter (10:01 AM, March 23, 2011)
Just 2 issues you did not mention. The HS20 has as a plus TTL metering for external flash. Both cameras suffer from a dreadful design flaw and weakness i.e. the position and flimsiness of the tripod mount screw.

Thanks again Shawn, we updated our math recently, hopefully it checks out now :)

Shawndj2 (10:01 AM, February 01, 2011)
Sorry, there was a typo, 322.92 is approx 65% of 499.95, but the discount itself is 35%.

Shawndj2 (7:15 AM, February 01, 2011)
To find the correct percentage you divide the smaller number by the larger number then multiply by 100, and since we're wanting to know the percentage or the discount, you'd subtract 100, and the negative number would be the percentage off, so at the time of this posting you found the price of the HS10 was $322.92, so you'd divide that by 499.95 = .645... so say .65 x 100 = 65 - 100 = -35, so $322.92 is approx. 35% of $499.95. In other words, the HS10 is approximately 35% cheaper than the HS20.

Hi Shawn, it looks like we have a problem with our math, we'll get that fixed, thanks for pointing it out. Here's the mistake we made: $499 - $339 is about $160, which is almost 50% of $339, hence the site's claim that its 50% cheaper. Of course thats not what people mean when they say 50% cheaper, so we'll change that.

Avatar for Snapsort Snapsort (1:50 PM, January 31, 2011)
Thanks for your comments but 9.1MP is the correct resolution. Snapsort uses true resolution instead of the manufactures advertised resolution, true resolution is based on the size of the sensor. If you are interested in learning more please take some time to read our detailed article on true resolution http://snapsort.com/learn/sensor/true-resolution.
We are glad you like our website, I hope I was able to clear up any misunderstanding.

Shawndj2 (9:29 AM, January 31, 2011)
Just a couple things... Whoever's writing the copy for this site needs to have a fact checker and someone who knows math to check the statements... The specs I've seen on the Fujifilm website says the HS20 is 16MP not 9.1MP, and when comparing the HS10's $339.95 price tag to the HS20's $499.95 price, you state, "The best price we've seen is $160 cheaper (around 50% less)"

$339.95 is no where near 50% off of $499.95.... 50% of $499.95 is $249.93. It's these basic discrepancies that really undermines the credibility of the information.

You have me getting into the comparisons, until I see these basic discrepancies, then I wonder if this is just hack work, or a truly knowledgeable comparison site. The math needs to be checked on a few more of these pages. I just got tired of seeing the same type of errors, and decided to comment.

Don't get me wrong, I really like this site, and despite the hiccups in information it's a great site. The accuracy of specs and math have to be correct for accurate comparisons though.

I suspect with the 16MP of the HS20 instead of 9.1MP as you report, would change the outcome of some of the comparisons.
