My friend recently got the SD1200 IS, but it lacks these incredible (and fun) features! The only new thing they offer is "Program" mode, where it automatically adjusts to Macro, Portrait, etc. This drives me NUTS! I like to CHOOSE what I am taking a picture of. Sometimes it doesn't get it right, either. It's a great camera, don't get me wrong, but I am SO happy to have chosen my camera. I also prefer the more industrial look of my camera, being a neutral silver and with flat buttons and a sleek style. The SD1200 feels like a lesser quality camera compared to mine. The weight of mine feels right, but the Sd1200 is lighter and feels more like a cheap camera. The buttons are plastic, there is no turn-wheel, and it's harder to focus a picture by pressing your finger half way down (it almost always just takes the picture).
The SD1200 is a nice camera, but I love my SD790 to death and it's seriously my baby.
I recommend it-it's sort of like having an SLR camera (the options, the quality) but at half the size and price!
