Right now these cameras (camera body only) can be purchased for T5I $379.00 with free shipping and the SLI for $349.00 and no free shipping. So which camera would you buy if they are the same price. I have 4 Canon lens rated at excellent and one lens that came with a Rebel Camera that is sort of Okay but I keep it for the grand kids to use. I used the Japanese version of I believe the 70 for 2 years and I never did understand all the things it would do and trying to decide whether to purchase the 5TI or the SLI or step up higher. I minored in film photograpy-yes I actually attempted to explain the various films to people when I was receiving my last cancer treatment.

That $200 price from NEWEGG at the top of the article is only for an accesories kit, NOT the T5i camera.

How can the SL1 be rated for lower noise if they have the same megapixels, the same size sensor and the same ISO rating?

One thing that people get sucked up into weatherproof of higher end cameras, but I would use my common sense and not taking my expensive camera out in rainy and cold weather. company advertised weatherproof camera body but not on lenses. The shrinkages are not the same at below freezing temperature of thick body vs thin film and glass sensor, mirror, this will make all the joins and glue parts wobbled, and dirt particles will sneak in. Cars are weatherproof but do get moisture condensation on glasses. Just think about it.

You are right! SL1 has an HDR option. So the only difference between the 2 is Flip Out Screen and cross type auto focus points (other than weight and dimensions).

Doesn't the SL1 have an HDR option under the SCN mode?

No it doesn't. The pictures aren't to scale, so the SL1 appears to be larger which is misleading. The flip-out viewfinder definitely is on the T5i.

The sl1 pic has a flip out screen when it shouldn't
