              Hi, I had canon powershot S5 IS and the resolution of photos I took was higher than the SX40. Does any body know why? I set up my camera on L and fine mode but the quality is still less than S5 IS. Also the size of photo is smaller than 3mb. Any opinion please?

              they say the 50 is better than the 40. The only thing is I was able to take better pictures with the 40 hs. I understand many of the shots were intuitive such as the re peat capture action mode, where you are blind to what is happening while the shots are captured. Does the wide aperture really count for that much? I actually sold my 50 hs and re purchased a new 40 hs. So why am I wondering, the lense can be pushed to 1300mm on the 40hs, and you need steady hands. I find the edges of the moon are sharper with the 40 hs vs the 50 hs. The zoom pictures of the 40 hs seamed to work better. Has any one had both? Can you share your experience? And what about the sony 300 super zoom? Does any other brand come close? Is a carl zeiss lens worth all that?

              Not sure how they come up with 315 shots for SX 40 HS. I am still using SX 40 HS as my back up camera, telephoto and video. On certain concert, I can max out to over 860-880 shots on a single fully charged default battery. Sometimes I am still taking shots while the video recording is still on (not quite an ideal for video). The autofocus is quite fast I can zoom in detail of a face of the performers 90-130 meters out. However, as usual the lightning has to be good. I went to Bestbuy and tested out SX 50 HS but the focus is horrible .. It is understandable that you have to sacrifice certain feature if you want to increase the optical zoom ie. 50x. SX 40 HS as to my own personal opinion is best used for concert where, any DSLR or interchangeable camera lens are not allow to be used.

              Btw, I bought SX40 an year ago at Rs.22k from flipkart.com unlike the Rs.25k that you're suggesting.. maybe it is out of stock on many websites.

              I'm currently satisfied with SX40's picture quality.. any quality-specific reason that I should go for SX50?
