Sigma logo

Sigma is a Japanese photography company founded in 1961. They are strictly a photographic equipment company primarily producing lenses, cameras and flashes. Unlike its competition Sigma produces lenses for all the major camera manufacturers: Nikon, Canon, Sony, Pentax and Four Thirds(Olympus/Panasonic). This lens expertise and deep portfolio of lenses mean their cameras have many lenses available to them. Sigma only offers a handful of cameras at a time and they are always semi-pro oriented, their digicams and SLRs use their proprietary Foveon sensors. These are niche/boutique cameras aimed at photographers looking for a purist photographic camera.
