Generally, some of the advantages of the Pentax W90 compared to other compact competitors include: it has a slightly wider wide angle lens (28 mm vs 35 mm), takes much higher resolution photos (9.8 MP vs 5.9 MP), much higher maximum light sensitivity (6,400 ISO vs 1,600 ISO), much closer macro focusing (1 cm vs 15 cm) and is newer (february, 2010 vs february, 2006).
However, on average it has a significantly narrower aperture (f/3.5 vs f/2.7), doesn't have image stabilization (none vs sensor shift), doesn't record movies in 24p, lacks boost light sensitivity (none vs 12,800 ISO) and doesn't shoot RAW.
