Pentax is a Japanese optics company formed in 1919 that produces an array of cameras, lenses, binoculars and medical optical equipment. Pentax has been producing cameras since the 1950s. Pentax provides both extremely cost effective digital cameras and prosumer shooters and entry level SLRs, recognizable by their large color range ( one of the few manufacturers to provide multi-color SLR bodies). Pentax shares technology with Samsung to help them compete against Nikon and Canon. Pentax's expertise with lenses allows them to develop and offer a large selection of lenses for their SLR cameras.
