One of the greatest pleasures in life is to make the flight from Seattle to Anchorage on a clear day. That just happened to me - on 9/11/11 of all days. The Alaska Airlines flight was almost empty - a rarity since they are usually packed. I lucked out and grabbed a window seat and was treated to great views. Unfortunately the pilot didn't make any announcements, so I had to guess our position. Leaving Seattle it was very hazy and didn't start clearing up until we were abeam British Columbia. This lasted for a bit until we hit clouds and I thought it was the end of the sightseeing; however, somewhere over the Gulf of Alaska we started seeing land again - I guessing it was near Yakutat. I wish I knew the names of the glaciers and mountains we passed over, but it was not to be. Still, this was one of the nicest trips I've made on this route - wow!
