The membership of the Inklings changed with time, Tolkien drifted off in the late 1950's But C S Lewis, who had lived around Oxford since 1921, was a leading member right up to his death in 1963, it was here in June 1950 that he passed round proofs for his soon to be published; The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the most famous of his children's fantasy tales; The Chronicles of Narnia. Multiple translations have ensured it's world-wide success and an adaptation is currently playing at the Threesixty Theatre in Kensington. C.S.Lewis 1898 - 1963.
