hiiiiii friends , i THING SO THAT  different between HS 20 AND HS22,
ITS THAT BOTH HAVE 16.2 M.P, 30 X ZOOM, TILT LCD 3'', WITH MANUAL CONTROL. I THINK MOST DIFFERENT BETWEEN HS22 _HS20 ITS LITHIUM BATTERY AND THERE WILL SOME ADDITION FUNCTION BUT MOST IMPORTANT IS BATRERY BACK UP. I THINK SO.................................................................................

it has been seen that they had lauch new model with li-ion battery which give longer battery back-up.......... it has nice model by fuji film ,we like you model that has good 2.8 opening aperature ,'''''''

The Main difference that I have figured out is the in built HDR feature in HS22

One way to decide is to look at the sample pix from a Nikon.  They look washed out, overly sharp yet fuzzy.  They seem to be very bluish in outdoor settings.  Just look like a $10 camera to me.  I like the samples form the HS20.  Wish I knew the difference with the HS22 vs. HS20.

For your money, when you buy the Nikon D3100 what you getting is an entry level SLR camera. Designed for someone new to Digital SLR's. The Fuji HS20 gives you a lot of control over your exposure.  I've been waiting for a camera like the HS20 to come on the market for a long while now as I used to like taking photos of stars (eg the southern Cross). Going to try a Moon shot shortly when sky is clear. I intend to put the camera through its paces and just see what capabilities it has. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Someone said it was heavy. I like a heavy camera as it reduces camera shake.

I recently also bought the Fuji AV250 in preference to the model with an inbuilt battery. I always use rechargeable batteries. That way I can carry spares and never worry about missing that shot because the camera battery has gone flat. I use a 15minute fast charger so batteries are charged up real quick.

Not a good practice to zoom while recording. Pause, zoom in or out then resume recording. Makes it easier on the eyes when watching the recording.

The manual zoom is DSLR-inspired; offers you much faster response, you can prepare your zoom before shooting & consumes NO power (using electrical zoom drives your battery much faster).
About the batteries: having AA means you can change them easily & buy them everywhere, even on days you left your hotel & no longer have  where to charge them, but have time for visiting around - or on the mountains.
I have used both types of cameras for some 7 years :D

i used it today took about 184 pic in about 2 hours at a summer fete i could not feel any heating and the image , the Zoom are amazing however i would prefer lithium batteries , but a definite recommend to anyone. I took the recommendations from Snapsort and they were right on this one. Thank you snapsort

YES I LIKE THIS MODEL , I THINK THIS MODEL IS THE BEST SUPER-ZOOM CAMARA.

Vratnik (0:14 PM, July 17, 2011)
fuji is far better because of RAW support.

Rhysjfox (7:34 PM, July 13, 2011)
i think SX 30, although it doesn't have a lage appature range and a smaller exposure

Go for the D3100 if you have $ for extra lenses, if you want the best image quality, and if you want to get into photography for photography's sake. Get the HS20 if you want the convenience of not carry around and switching lenses, and you need a lot of zoom. Does that help at all?

I am confused between Nikon D3100 and Fujifilm HS20 ! Which one should i go for ?

I cant wait to get my hands on this camera..... When will it be launched????

Elie Boujaoude (6:39 PM, January 31, 2011)
Features are great. However, I would prefer a lithium battery rather than AA batteries.
Manual zoom is very nice when shooting still pictures but the user's fingers are obstructed by the built in flash when shooting in portrait format. On the other hand, electrical zoom would be sleekier when shooting movies.

Thanks for answering that Helldiver! Snapsort says above "Also known as: Fujifilm FinePix HS20 EXR" this is the sites way of saying they're the same cameras.

I realize though that if you try to compare the two cameras, it won't tell you that. We'll improve that at some point, so if you compare two names of the same camera the site would just tell you they're the same camera!
