I have the same camera for about 8 months right now, and I have the same problems. I'v already turned in my camera for one time, got it back after 6 weeks, with the only thing 'fixed' was a firmware upgrade. It worked fine for some time, but now the problem is here again. So it's been turned in...again. To be honest, I hope they just give me another camera, perhaps the HS30, because I don't trust this camera anymore. But I'll probably just get it back with another firmware upgrade. Anyway, if you did somehow managed to get your money back or a replacement camera, I would like to know how you accomplished that:)...

can you geuse why my fujifilm HS 20 EXR" flash is not working? :-/
First you put take 3D PHOTOS THEN NO 3D SUPPORT
FIX IT please
We
bought our Fujifim Finepix HS20 EXR camera back in September 2011,
online from Hong Kong (we're in Australia) and it was working great
for only just over a month!! We then started having the same
problems, overheating, freezing etc and just couldn't understand why
it was happening. We changed the batteries and memory card and still
the problems occurred. I emailed the company we bought in from, based
in Hong Kong and I sent the camera back to them explaining the
problems. They have had the camera for about a month now and I have
just received an email today (9 Feb 2012) basically stating their
warranty policy and to please pay $43.80 shipping as they couldn't
find any problems (so user has to pay shipping) with the camera after
FujiFilm have carried out their testing!!! In their previous email to
me, they asked whether the problem was with my memory card which I
think is strange and do not believe that is where the problem lies. I
am in the process of emailing them back saying I'm not paying the
$43.80 shipping and told them about this Firmware upgrade etc and
that others are experiencing the same problems. I am just so
unbelievably frustrated as I like the camera and just want it to
work!!!!!! I am so thankful I found this site and relived that
it's not just happening to me, that this problem is occurring to
others well!! I'm going to fight them on this and will keep you
posted!!
You are correct the HS20 can shoot up to 11 frames per seconds but the resolution drops in half. It can only shoot 8 fps at full resolution, which is what we count. As for megapixels Snapsort uses true resolution which is based on the size of the sensor and not the artificially high numbers that marketers use.

what is your firmware version ? I heard that the latest firmware has solved this problem.
i met a friend of my dad who own this camera and discussed reg the freezing and over heating issues. He said he too had it when he got it 3 months back and when he updated the firmware, it was gone.
Try taking it to fujifilm to update ur firmware. Might solve the problem.
I'm planning to buy this camera later this month. I was thinking that this issue is solved in the latest releases and from ur case if it still has the latest firmware, then that issue still prevails ! :-/
please let me know if atleast this heating and freezing issue is resolved in the recent cameras !
even tried out make me more amaze especially focasing on the macro
it is faster and more accurate
Set sharpness to SOFT and noise reduction to STD, under expose about -2/3 with the (+/-) button this gives better detail overall, don use continuous focus for pictures or movies to keep your batteries running for longer. The HS20EXR camera is perfect for users that want to experiment with several options and learn if you just want to use the AUTO or SCENE modes at most then buy a NIKON P500 or a PANASONIC FZ150. HS20EXR is a little better than the HS10 but if you already have a HS10 is not worth upgrading, wait for the HS30EXR if we are in luck Fuji guys could use the newly developed larger 12MP sensor of the X10 camera and maybe include a fully articulated screen, that would be really cool ! Hope I have answered most of your doubts.
