? I think you need to look at this from the other perspective! This is a super hero tiny sensor point and shoot! It sin't and wasn't ever going to be a DSLR (quality) replacement or even from a quality perspective a backup!
How much was the whole camera, how much is a single DSLR lans (on average) or a flash unit? If you want a back up get an interchangeable lens system; Samsung NX10/11/100 or Panasonic Gx/xx or Olympus, Sony pen! The Samsung is even APS-C and is fantastic I have thre NX10.
EXR is a very interesting technology and whilst it does bring down the pix count does seem to work rather well for this level of sensor size.
Lets keep a balance, this is a £200 (ish) GBP super clever little point and shoot!
Is it any good compaired to Canon's, Nikon.s Samsung's equivalent?
Hi Hamza, if you do write future comments be sure to use the "reply" button if you're replying to a particular thread, that way the person you're responding to will get notified that you've left a comment!
Hi Hamza, Snapsort uses a calculated true resolution when comparing cameras, because we think manufacturers often pack too many megapixels into small sensors which don't actually get you more detail.
Mauritz you are right and I have tested too by enlarging the pics, it dosent give better result than 10 MP. Even 1080p movies is lie. It records 720p and change the exif data if movie which shows 1080p i movie details. to check it you can see the remaining time count down during filming it is same as 1080p and 720p. 1080p recording must take larger space on SDHC card but it is same as 720p. too much comprasion soent give the good quality to pix and films. Colors are just ok not superb. I go for Canon DSLR, D7 or D60 now. I really appreciate this site for Camera lovers. Well done snapsort!

Dear Guys, Fujifilm FinePix F500 EXR is a 16 MPix camera. Dont specify it 10 MPix.
Hi Mauritz, we're sorry you're not happy with the camera, that does not sound good. Thanks for sharing your experience with the camera - we'd be interested in hearing if others have had the same experiences!

Dear Snapsort. Just got this camera because of extensive investigation and reviews that said it was good for the DSLR user as a back up. I think it is nonsense. On EXR setting it gets almost everything wrong when it comes to shutter speed, aperture setting, ISO etc. It is practically unusable in EXR. Then when trying to use P,S,A,M settings, i am limits to what i am allowed to do while EXR Auto is... If i want 1/1000 shutter speed @ F.5 with ISO 400. I just cannot set it as I like it. The EXR gets those settings, but I cannot. The Jpeg compression is fluffy and never sharp, no matter how much i tried. It seems like the software just takes over and softens everything to the degree that it will be not usable @ A3 size even. This might be harsh but i feel i have been duped into buying a camera that is supposed to let me have at least some freedom, instead it plays dumb when it suits it and plays too smart when it doesn't. I was a fuji fan because of the real color you used to get AUTOMATICALLY. Now it is bad and only with superior PP is it anywhere to what I'm used to from Fuji.
I am selling mine immediately, and now have no idea what to get cause you obviously cannot believe any reviews and there are not a lot of camera shops that will let you DEMO test a unit for a couple of hours/days.
Hi gbrandwood, Snapsort uses a calculated true resolution when comparing cameras, which takes into account how small or large the camera's sensor is, this way we avoid saying a camera is better merely because the manufacturer has packed more megapixels into the camera than make sense.
See the F500 EXR specs, we have the resolution listed as 15.9 megapixels.

Isn't this 16MP? It says so on the front of the camera.
